If a Paycom Learning assignment still looks incomplete, identify the last activity you finished and compare it with the course’s stated requirements. Finishing a video is not enough evidence that every required activity has been recorded. Paycom describes configurable learning paths, quizzes and course-completion tracking; the completion requirements for your assignment must be established from the course instructions or your training coordinator. There is no verified universal reset sequence that fixes every incomplete course. A useful diagnosis starts with the stage that failed: access, an activity, submission of a result or confirmation of completion.
Confirm the assignment before repeating work
Check the employer, course title and assignment date or version if shown. Paycom supports recurring courses and learning assignments based on factors such as role or location. A familiar title therefore warrants a closer look before you conclude that an old completion should satisfy the current task. Official Paycom Learning overview
If you believe the assignment duplicates completed training, ask the coordinator to compare the records. Give the earlier completion date and the current assignment’s identifying details. Do not assume you need to retake it, but do not assume it is a duplicate that can be ignored either.
For employees with two Paycom employers, confirm the active account first. Our two-employer guide explains the documented switching route and the checks that help keep assignments separate.
Locate the last successful step
Work through the question that matches your observation. The possibilities below are diagnostic questions, not claims about a particular technical cause.
| Observation | What to establish next |
|---|---|
| The course cannot be opened | Whether access to that exact assignment has been provided |
| A lesson opens but content will not play | Which device, browser or app version was used and what error appears |
| The lesson finishes but more activities remain | Which activities the assignment requires |
| An assessment shows a result but the course remains open | Whether that result meets the stated requirement and was submitted |
| The course looks complete but a separate checklist remains open | Whether the checklist has an additional requirement or needs review |
Use the instructions actually displayed by the course. Do not invent a passing score, retry limit or required viewing percentage based on another course. If an instruction refers to a control you cannot find, report that specific mismatch.
Try only changes that preserve a clear account of the problem
Record the error text and the point at which it appeared before trying again. If the employer provides a supported device or browser procedure, follow it and note the result. Change one thing at a time so you can explain what affected the behavior.
Avoid clearing app data, restarting an assessment or repeatedly resubmitting work as a first response when you do not know how the assignment handles attempts. Ask the training coordinator whether a retry is appropriate. The aim is to complete the assigned learning with a reliable record, not to produce a different status by trial and error.
If you need an accessible format, captions or another way to engage with the content, describe that requirement to the employer’s designated contact. That is a different request from reporting that a lesson failed to load, even if both prevent completion.
Send evidence that identifies the unresolved result
A useful report could say: “I completed the final lesson in the assigned workplace-safety course today. The assessment shows a result, but the assignment remains incomplete. Is another activity required, or does the recorded result need review?” This is an illustrative message, not a reported incident.
Add the exact result and error text through the employer-approved channel when necessary. Keep the report focused on the course; passwords, authentication codes and unrelated personnel documents are not useful troubleshooting evidence.
Paycom describes learning activities that can include quizzes and employee-submitted video evidence. If the instructions require a particular activity, ask about that activity directly rather than assuming a video view alone should complete the assignment. Learning capabilities
Confirm both the learning result and any linked task
After the issue is resolved, review the assignment again and retain whatever completion confirmation the employer makes available. If the course was part of onboarding or another checklist, inspect that separate task as well. The documents and checklists guide explains how to isolate a remaining action without repeating an entire workflow.
If a deadline is approaching, tell the coordinator when it falls and ask how to proceed while the record is reviewed. Obtain a specific answer about the remaining requirement; reporting an error should not be treated as an automatic extension or a completed course.
